MC Students Weekly 2

Well the past two weeks in the Mud Creek Student Ministry has been encouraging. We are seeing students make choices that are effecting their spiritual future. I am so glad that God allows me to be apart of this ministry. Below are the updates and future information for each program we have going on in our student ministry.

Rebellution: This past Sunday night we finished up the God View series. I believe that through this series students eyes were opened up to the fact that our view of God will determine the reality of God in our lives. I am praying that students will continue to keep their God view growing and develop a reality of God that is as real as the air we breath! This Sunday night we will kick off our new theme called "Forward Motion". This series is about understand that life in Christ is all about taking steps not leaps. When we as Christians take "leaps" in life we tend to get frustrated and give up when we fail at making big changes quickly. The "Forward Motion" series is all about understanding certain steps God has given us in His word. Rebellution is about seeing students give their hearts over to God and I am praying that throughthis series students hearts and minds will be opened to the fact that they are sinners and have no hope in eternal life without Jesus! Life Groups: This Sunday we will finish up the "Life in the Zone" series in Life Groups. I am starting to see an increase of students begin a daily quiet time. The purpose of Life Groups is about seeing students grow closer in their relationships with God. I am praying that every student, by the time they graduate, will have a strong first hand faith in God. Life Groups is the training ground to make this happen. Connect Groups: After Rebellution and the "After Party" each week at 7:30pm we have Connect Groups for all students who attended Rebellution. I want to encourage all students be part of a Connect Group each week as we "rehash" the Rebellution message and discuss real life issues. Graduation Sunday: If you are a High School Graduate or a Parent of a Graduate, listen up! Graduates need to be in the Conference room no later than 10:15am dressed and ready to go. You will be given specific instructions in the Conference room for the recognition service. DON'T BE LATE!

Graduation Sunday

This Sunday at Mud Creek Church we will be recognizing our 2009 graduates. First service we will be recognizing Fifth grade graduates from Mud Creek Christian School and College Graduates. Second service we will recognize High School Graduates. I have attached below the Graduate Recognition Insert for you to look at. If you notice any mistakes please let us know before Wednesday night. The final prints will be printed on Wednesday at 5pm.

MC Students Weekly

Well it has been a great week in the lives of our students. God is stirring in their hearts and I can wait to see whats in store next for them. If you are student ministry leadership this blog is for you. Check out whats happening in each program:

Rebellution: This past Sunday night rocked! I love the God View series. It is vitally important that every student understands that their view of God will determine their reality of God. I want students to get a glimpse of how great our God is. This Sunday night Jared will speak on how we can take our "Distorted" God view and make it clear. The band is doing a fantastic job during worship and this week we will have more students involved in the band. There will be a leadership meeting at 5:30 in the Generation Center and I would love to see you leaders there as we discuss how to reach more students. Bring a copy of your follow ups with you to the meeting. Take a few minutes this week and make some phone calls to 5 of your students to remind them to come to Rebellution and bring a friend. Rebellution is all about seeing students give their hearts over to Christ!

Life Groups: We are about half way threw the " living life in the zone" series. This weeks talk will be about over coming strongholds. Life Groups purpose is discipleship and discipleship doesn't just happen on Sunday mornings, it happens every day of the week threw a personal quiet time with Jesus. Challenge your students each week to pick up a quiet time book that we will have available in the coffee shop in between first and second service. Each week I will be asking students to share what God is doing in their life from the stage. Obviously if students are not spending time with God on a weekly basis then they will have nothing to talk about. I want to see students develop Godly habits before they enter College and are faced with bigger challenges! I have attached this weeks lesson and talk sheet below:

Connect Groups: I thought Connect Groups went great his past Sunday night. Students seemed to really open up during the discussion time. You can get ahead this week by checking out the discussion questions attached below.

Student CARE:Student CARE is on Wednesday nights from 6-7 on the second floor near the ministry table. I am encouraging students to get involve in following up on their friends and using their God given gifts to care for other students.

Life Groups: I am really enjoying this series "Living life in the zone"! This Sundays lesson is on the difference between Law and Grace. This is something that every student should here. I want to remind you to continue to encourage your students to pick up a quiet time book, in the coffee shop, and begin a personal relationship with God. We have got to make you our students realize that they will never experience all that God has for them without a personal relationship with Him! You should have picked up the next 4 weeks lessons last Sunday in your rooms. If not then check your box this Sunday morning. click below for this weeks lesson and talk sheet.

Life Step Lesson 09

Rebellution: Well it's Mothers day this Sunday and i thought it would be fitting to speak on Parent/Student relationships. I am so pumped about the message found in Ephesians 6:1-9. Encourager's, I have your prospect list printed out and I will have them for you at our 5:30 meeting  before Rebellution. Their are some blanks on the "Student Encourager Chart". We still have some High school and Middle school spots available. Help me fill these spots with adults who have a desire to see students lives changed. If you have a story of a student who God is working in their heart and life, let me know about it. I want to share their story!

Connect Groups: Connect Groups went well last Sunday night. I want to brag on Joey Siak. He has  stepped up and has been doing a great job with Middle school Connect Groups. This week we will have an "after party" from 7:00 - 7:30 in the gym and Connect Groups from 7:30 - 8:15. Middle school in the gym and High school in the hospitality room. Student Ministry Past & Present

Well it has been a great week in our Mud Creek Student Ministry. I am honored to be apart of what God is doing in our students lives. This past Sunday morning in Life Groups I talked about becoming a modern day missionary in today’s culture. I challenged students to adapt 3 traits to there life that would equip them become a modern day missionary and fulfill Gods command in Matthew 28:18-20. The 3 traits are: 1. Be a Christ follower- Matt. 16:24-25  2. Have a heart for God – Phil. 3:10-11 3. Carry a burden for non-believers – Matt.28:18-20.  The response from students was great!

           

Sunday night we finished up our 4th and final season of Wired, and WOW it went out with a great big bang! Even though it was our last Wired it was a night of first for a lot of our student. The band was lead by one of our high schooler’s, Greg Cooper, it was his first night being the front man for Wired worship. Greg, along with Luke Dennison, Dawson Corn, and Greg Mcmurray did a great job with music. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do with these guys at Rebellution starting March 15th.  Joey Siak, a long time friend, hosted a game were basically students had to suck a cup of jello threw panty hose, It was hilarious. Joey is defiantly one of the funniest guys I know, he has a way to make people laugh. For the message I spoke on the blood of Jesus and how it took His perfect blood to cover up our sins. I asked Michelle Miglio (a high school girl) to sing “Bleeding Love” as part of my message and let me tell you, she brought to house down! The song helped me communicate the message of Jesus’ love for us, as He shed His blood on the cross. God used Wired Sunday night to open the hearts of students and there were 2 students who asked Jesus into there life. I never get tired of seeing student’s lives changed by God.

           

This Saturday I will be traveling to Charlotte to speak at a youth rally. Pray for me as I try to communicate Gods word to lost students.

Student Ministry Summer Plans

 

Our student ministry Summer Camp has always been huge.  I have seen hundreds of life changing decisions over the past decade.  My first “beach” trip with our students was way back in the 90’s to Myrtle Beach.  The accommodations were alright but we wanted to give our student excellences. 

The very next summer I took our High School students to Big Stuff camps in Panama City Beach Fl.  I fell in love with the environment and the excellence.  Ever since that time we have been doing two summer camps.  One for Middle School @ Myrtle Beach and one for High School students in Panama, Fl. 

I’ve made several observations about these two environments.  The MS trip is smaller (it’s just us) and more intimate.  I really see our leaders developing long term relationships with students.  The teaching is more personal because Ryan and our staff programs and teaches.  The HS camp has grown like crazy in Panama.  From a couple of hundred to close to 1000 students per week, it is huge!  With those large numbers we gain some things and loose some things.  I’ve also seen the price increase drastically.   From around $100 dollars to this year being around $400 dollars.     

This summer we have an incredible opportunity.  We are going to host an excellent, affordable summer camp!  We have partnered with some amazing churches and are going to do both our Middle and High School camp the same week in Myrtle Beach @ the Crown Reef Resorton June 22-26^th.  Our Middle School student will be doing a totally separate agenda than our High School students (think two services) but we will be on the same campus.  We are expecting approx. 600 students from about seven churches.  Our team is totally in charge, and I’m stoked!

Oh yeah, some of the greatest news.  We are able to do top notch programming with excellence for about half the cost of most camps.  This year’s camp is costing approx. $200!!!

Weekend Forecast

We are looking forward to this weekend.  The team has created three incredible agendas and our environments look amazing. 

SNC:  Pastor Greg is in his 5^th week of, “A Pastor’s Confession.”  He is preaching 10 sermons at SNC and will be there “live” two more times.  The other times we he is preaching by video which he has done 3 times.  It works!  I watch in amazement as people interact with the video.  They have laughed, they have cried and they have made life changing decisions.

Life Groups:  Ryan is fired up!  I have never seen him as excited about what God is up to.  He is going to be bringing a message about discipleship.  I’m so looking forward to hearing him cast vision about this critical purpose.  Also, a group of girls got together and are leading worship.  They sound amazing!  You will hear more about this later...
